How it works
Official quarterly figures · projection labelled · sources linkedThe live number = latest official total + (the official change per second over the past six months × seconds since that total). Saudi Arabia publishes its debt once a quarter, not daily, so this is a projection between quarterly figures, not an official figure.
projected = 1,685,000,000,000 + 10,617.3408 × (seconds since Jun 30, 2026 11:59:59 PM CT)
The rate is the official change from Dec 31, 2025 to Jun 30, 2026: SAR 1,685,000,000,000 − SAR 1,519,000,000,000 = SAR 166,000,000,000 over 181 days = SAR 10,617.34 per second. We use the change since the 2025 year-end position, the earliest one the NDMC page lets us use as a base, rather than the last quarter alone, because the quarterly change swings with the issuance calendar. The actual path is lumpy (bonds are sold in batches and repaid on schedules), so the projection will drift; when new quarterly figures come out, the clock re-bases to the new official figures.
How often it's published. Quarterly. The NDMC adds each period-end position to its Reports & Statistics page after the quarter ends. The National Debt Management Center adds each quarter-end position to its Reports & Statistics page after the quarter ends; this page re-bases to it automatically on the next daily build after it appears.
Per person divides by GASTAT's estimate of 35,300,000 people on Jul 1, 2024. It is not projected forward, so the live per-person figure rises only with the debt.
Note. Why the NDMC: it is the Ministry of Finance's debt manager and states the figure itself, with the date. The fetcher reads every period it states and keeps them as its history.
Note. Gross: the figure is the total owed; the government's deposits at the central bank are not subtracted.
Note. Currency: Saudi riyals. The riyal is pegged to the US dollar at 3.75 riyals per dollar, which the World Debt Clock uses for conversion.
Note. Figures from source tables may not add exactly because of rounding in the source.
