Singapore Debt Clock

The Singapore Government owed S$1,326,895,100,000 (S$1.33 trillion) on Jun 30, 2026, according to the SingStat Table Builder, Government Debt. This is Total Government Debt as SingStat, the Accountant-General's Department and MAS publish it: everything the Government has issued and not yet repaid, including securities held by the CPF Board and by MAS. That makes it the closest Singapore match to the US national debt clock's Total Public Debt Outstanding. The Ministry of Finance says most of it was not issued to fund government spending. Under the Government Securities (Debt Market and Investment) Act the proceeds are invested and cannot be spent: Special Singapore Government Securities for the CPF Board, securities that develop the bond market, savings bonds, and securities issued to MAS to transfer reserves. Only the infrastructure securities, a small part of the total, fund spending. The Ministry also says the Government has no net debt: its financial assets are well in excess of its debt. Amounts are in Singapore dollars. That is S$213,721.54 per person: the debt divided by SingStat's estimate of 6,208,523 people in Singapore on Jun 30, 2026. The clock below starts from that official figure and projects forward at the past 12 months' pace (about S$111.9M a day), the official change from Jun 30, 2025 to Jun 30, 2026. Singapore reports its debt once a quarter, not daily, so the ticking number is a projection, not an official figure; it re-bases when the next quarterly figures come out.

How it works

Official quarterly figures · projection labelled · sources linked

The live number = latest official total + (the official change per second over the past 12 months × seconds since that total). Singapore publishes its debt once a quarter, not daily, so this is a projection between quarterly figures, not an official figure.

projected = 1,326,895,100,000 + 1,295.2087 × (seconds since Jun 30, 2026 11:59:59 PM CT)

The rate is the official change from Jun 30, 2025 to Jun 30, 2026: S$1,326,895,100,000 − S$1,286,049,400,000 = S$40,845,700,000 over 365 days = S$1,295.21 per second. We use the latest four quarters rather than the last quarter because quarter-to-quarter changes swing with bond maturities, Treasury-bill rollovers and CPF-related issuance. The actual path is lumpy (bonds are sold in batches and repaid on schedules), so the projection will drift; when new quarterly figures come out, the clock re-bases to the new official figures.

How often it's published. Quarterly. SingStat publishes each quarter-end figure (Table Builder table M130181, Accountant-General's Department and MAS data) about six weeks after the quarter ends. The Q3 2026 quarter-end figure is expected roughly six weeks after the quarter ends; this page re-bases to it automatically on the next daily build after it appears.

Per person divides by SingStat's estimate of 6,208,523 people on Jun 30, 2026. It is not projected forward, so the live per-person figure rises only with the debt.

Note. Why this measure: the US clock ticks Treasury's Total Public Debt Outstanding, the face value of everything Treasury has issued and not repaid, including securities held by government trust funds and the Federal Reserve. SingStat's Total Government Debt is the Singapore equivalent: all government securities outstanding, including those held by the CPF Board and MAS.

Note. Why most of it is not spent: the Singapore Government does not borrow for recurrent spending. Special Singapore Government Securities are issued to the CPF Board, which invests members' CPF savings in them at the CPF interest rates; securities issued to develop the bond market, Singapore Savings Bonds and Reserves Management Government Securities likewise raise money that is invested, not spent. Only the Significant Infrastructure Government Loan Act securities fund spending.

Note. Net position: the Ministry of Finance states that the Government has a balance sheet with no net debt, with financial assets well in excess of its debt, and that the investment returns on those net assets support the budget through the Net Investment Returns Contribution. This page counts gross debt only and does not value the assets. Gross debt alone, as the Ministry itself notes, does not show Singapore's asset position.

Note. Population: debt per person divides by the total population (residents and non-residents), not only citizens or residents.

Note. Figures from source tables may not add exactly because of rounding in the source.
